Dear Brothers And Friends—
We are writing today to share with you some important information about the leadership changes that have been taking place at Delta Kappa Epsilon and the Rampant Lion Foundation.
As you may know, David Easlick stepped down as President of the Rampant Lion Foundation last April, and this past fall he left his Executive Director position with DKE. In addition, at a Board of Trustees meeting held yesterday, the trustees of the Rampant Lion Foundation acted to remove David as a trustee of the foundation. Each of those decisions came regretfully, but with the strong support of the respective boards. In all cases the decisions were made to protect the interests of the organizations and their stakeholders.
A careful review of the financial condition and business practices of both organizations made it clear that changes in leadership were needed. For a candid assessment of the current state of the foundation, you may click here to see the 2009 President’s Report. The foundation and fraternity currently do not have the financial strength to effectively carry out their mission, nor have they been meeting the needs of the undergraduate fraternity. These things must change.
We face a number of significant challenges in restoring the health and vitality of both the fraternity and the foundation, but we are confident that with the strength of new leadership and the commitment of the international DKE brotherhood we will be successful in that goal. An important first step is more effective communication with both actives and alumni, coupled with a higher level of transparency in our operations and decision making. You have our commitment to both, and with this message we begin a new era of openness that will help make us stronger.
Soon we will have more information to share with you about a new strategic business plan for DKE that will move us successfully into the future. In the meantime, if you have questions about our new direction we encourage you to contact either of us.
In the Bonds,
