Information Regarding Scholarships
Established 1984

The Rampant Lion Foundation Scholarship is available to all full-time students at an institution of higher learning which recognizes Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity, who is an active member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. The scholarship is made possible by gifts from alumni and other supporters of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

Scholarship Background

The founders of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity at Yale University in 1844 sought members who were "in equal parts the Gentleman, the Scholar, and the Jolly Good Fellow." An esteemed alumnus of Delta Kappa Epsilon, former President Gerald R. Ford, was able to belong to the fraternity and attend the University of Michigan only by taking advantage of scholarship funds available from the fraternity. The men of Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity have established the Rampant Lion Foundation to promote the same objectives.

Criteria

To apply, a student must:

• Be a full-time student at a university or college which recognizes Delta Kappa Epsilon;
• Be an active member of Delta Kappa Epsilon at that university;
• Have a minimum overall cumulative grade point average of 2.5, or a minimum GPA of 3.0 in his major;
• Demonstrate the qualities of "Gentleman, Scholar and Jolly Good Fellow."

Selection Process

The recipient of a Rampant Lion Foundation Scholarship will be recommended by the highest officer (other than himself) in his chapter, and seconded by one of the following: his parent, a faculty adviser, or the Chapter Alumni Association President. The application must be delivered or postmarked not less than 90 days prior to the commencement of the semester or term for which the scholarship is sought. The Scholarship and Grant Committee of the Rampant Lion Foundation will annually establish the number of scholarships and award amount. If adequate funding is not available the Selection Committee may exercise the option of making no selection.

Understanding and Acceptance

If you are selected as recipient of a Rampant Lion Foundation scholarship, you understand that you must meet the criteria as outlined in your application at the beginning of the semester or term in which the scholarship is to be applied. If your status should change before or during the academic year, you understand that you must notify the Rampant Lion Foundation. You further understand that a change in your status may affect your eligibility to receive the scholarship.
