Chapter Officers Academy

Program Purpose

Started in 2017 as the Brother Beta Academy, Deke University – Officers Academy has expanded to include programming for the Brother Betas, Vice Presidents of Health & Safety, and Recruitment Chairmen. We have fully redesigned COA24 to prioritize practical learning while on-site with ample online pre-learning to prepare you for the program. Plus, you’ll get to network with your peers, DKE Staff, and local alumni from across North America.

Students will leave the program with sufficient knowledge to begin their tenures in their roles, tackle common projects and programs of the Fraternity, and leverage connections with brothers from across the country and Canada. We look forward to hosting you at DKE’s Chapter Officers Academy.

Deke University Officers Academy is Delta Kappa Epsilon’s premier leadership development program. Every January since 2017, we have brought Brother Betas, Vice Presidents of Health & Safety, and select Recruitment Chairmen together to join with each other in fellowship and receive quality leadership development and officer training. The conference is designed to provide large group and small group practical instruction, as well as ample time to socialize and explore our nation’s capital city.

Brother Beta and VP of H&S registration fees are paid for by the chapter’s semesterly/quarterly event fee. Select chapters will be invited to send Recruitment Chairmen for a discounted registration fee of $300 that will be billed to the chapter in their event fee after the program.

Chapters are responsible for all travel costs and incidentals not included in registration fees already paid. If you are driving, you will need to plan to pay the daily parking fee at $25-30 a day.

If you have concerns or need assistance with cost coverage, contact your chapter consultant, education@dke.org, or connect with your alumni to request financial sponsoring. You may also contact Turner Spears to see if your chapter has an active Chapter Education Fund that can assist with funding.

Brother Beta and Vice President of Health & Safety for each chapter are expected to attend per DKE Standards. Select Chapters will be invited to send their Recruitment Chairmen.

If you anticipate a change in officers before January, please register the incoming officer only.

If you have a conflict scheduling a mandatory officer to attend, please contact your Chapter Consultant.

Officers Academy is open to all members of DKE. However, due to limited hotel space, you will need to contact Dustin Stewart to express your interest in attending if you are not one of the primary officers to ensure space to attend.

We do not have a specific Advisor track at Officers Academy. However, advisors in the D.C. area are welcome to come by the program. Please contact Turner Spears or Craig Dick for more information regarding Alumni and Chapter Officers Academy.

The DKE Standards outline attendance requirements for this program (see “Education”). Failure to meet these standards will result in:

  • $500 fine per chapter
  • Remediation with DKE staff

Other sanctions may applied as appropriate at the discretion of DKE’s senior leadership.

Please review all program content information provided earlier on this webpage. For additional questions, contact education@dke.org.
