Philanthropy and Service
Beta Delta requires 16 community service hours per member per semester. This is the highest service requirement on campus. Throughout the semester, members are involved in a variety of projects in order to reach their semesterly requirement. Most recently, this included volunteering with Books for Keeps (a nonprofit organization in Athens that provides books to children), cleaning up parks around Athens to keep the community pristine, donating backpacks & supplies to children in need in Kentucky, and volunteering at local animal shelters!
Most recently, Beta Delta hosted a philanthropy event called “Cuts for Cancer” at a local barbershop in Athens. Half of the proceeds from haircuts during the event was donated to cancer research. Beta Delta also held a month long campaign for Movemeber. Members grew mustaches for the entire month on November to raise awareness and money for men’s mental health!
